A number of local track and field athletes qualified for the next round of postseason competition at the second and final day of Division III East District play on Friday at St. Clairsville High School.

Strasburg's Karli Curfman was the District Champion in the 100-meter dash with a 13.60 finishing time, along with a 27.92 mark in the 200.

Newcomerstown's Marlie Moner was second in the 200 race (28.52), while Malvern's Lanie Bower finished fourth (28.89) to qualify for next week's Regional tournament.

Garaway's Jessie Johnson was second in the 800 (2:23.09), while fellow Pirate Meghan Schwartz was third (2:24.98). Strasburg's Maci Willoughby took fourth place with a 2:30.16.

Garaway's Kenadi Yoder placed second in the 300 hurdles (47.74), while Ridgewood's Kaelynn Robinson (51.02) finished fourth to qualify. The Pirates also qualfied Makayla Sitzlar, who was fourth in the discus (111-00), and Ellie Johnson in the 100 (fourth place, 14.32).

In the girls high jump, Tuscarawas Central Catholic's Julia Sciaretti was second with a 4-10, while Strasburg's Riley Thomas earned a runner-up finish in the girls long jump (15-11.50).

In team events, Newcomerstown was third in the girls 4x100 relay (53.82), while Strasburg (53.91) earned a fourth-place finish. Malvern's girls 4x200 relay team finished second at 1:52.49, while Tuscarawas Central Catholic (1:54.50) finished fourth.

On the boys' side, Tuscarawas Central Catholic's Jackson Triplett won the boys 1600 at 4:36.84, along with a 9:53.09 finish in the 3200. Tusky Valley's Teagan Perkowski finished third (4:40.18) in the 1600, while Triplett's teammate Drew Lakota placed fourth (4:40.68).

Tusky's Jake Kapper finished fourth in the 3200 with a 10:28.97.

Strasburg's Carter Pratt finished second in the boys 800 race (2:07.56), while Conotton Valley's Evan Siedel (2:10.00) finished fourth in the event. Meanwhile, Newcomerstown's Braxton Wilson was second in the boys high jump (6-2), ahead of Tusky Valley's Silas Miller was (third place, 6-0), and fellow Trojan Bladon Garland (fourth place, 6-0).

Malvern qualified Frank McClelland, who was second in the boys shot put (42-07.50), while teammate Shane Rodgers finished fourth in the boys 110 hurdles (17.65).

Hiland's Kendrick Wilson placed third in the boys 100 (12.14), while Malvern's KJ Thomas ended in fourth place (12.33). Thomas also finished third in the 400 (54.17), while Micah Kuhns took third place in the 200 (23.51) for the Hawks.

Hiland's boys 4x200 relay squad won with a 1:34.91, while Malvern (1:35.32) and Tusky Valley (1:38.51) finished second and third, respectively. The Hawks' 4x100 relay team finished second (46.52), ahead of third-place Newcomerstown (46.74) and fourth-place Tusky Valley (47.08).
