A 39-year-old man is behind bars after a string of break-ins throughout Carroll and Tuscarawas Counties, according to authorities.

Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Detective Adam Fisher told JMN that they were first dispatched to the Dollar General in Roswell in Tuscarawas County early Friday morning after it was learned the store had been broken into overnight.

While on scene, Carroll County deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General down the road in Sherrodsville after it was discovered someone had broken in. The Carroll County deputies obtained video footage from the Sherrodsville location and determined the suspect was the same man wanted in connection to the Roswell break-in.

It was later learned the suspect, identified as Tyler Baker, 39, of Fairfield Twp in Tuscarawas County, had allegedly broke into Tusky Valley elementary school and the Atwood Dairy bar – both in Tuscarawas County – Fisher noted.

Detective Fisher said the break-ins all happened between 3am-4:30am Friday morning.

A search warrant was obtained for Baker’s vehicle and house. Authorities said they found cartons of cigarettes believed to be stolen from the Dollar Generals along with chromebooks from Tusky Valley elementary.

Baker was arrested and booked into the Tuscarawas County Jail. Formal felony charges are expected to be filed against him.
