Man dies after being hit while riding bicycle on I-77 in Tuscarawas County

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s New Philadelphia Post is currently looking into a car versus bicycle collision that claimed the life of one individual on Interstate 77 around milepost 93 in Lawrence Township, Tuscarawas County.

The incident happened on Friday, April 19, at approximately 10:05 p.m., involving a gray 2014 Chevrolet Malibu heading southbound on Interstate 77 near milepost 93 in the left lane.

According to troopers, a bicycle was traveling southbound on Interstate 77 within the same lane. The collision occurred when the Malibu collided with the bicycle, causing the bicycle to veer off the left side of the roadway and into the median.

The bicycle was being operated by Bartholomew James Kosins Snow, 44, from Xenia, Ohio. Snow was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office. The driver of the Malibu, identified as Kyle M. Sisson, 24, from Powhatan Point, Ohio, did not sustain any injuries from the accident.

Responding authorities included the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Bolivar Fire Department, Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
