A new local business is set to open this weekend in rural Carroll County, Ohio.

“Mean Bean BBQ” owned by Mike Detchon is set to open this Sunday at noon. Based in a food truck, business hours will be primarily on the weekends to start out to see how the business does. On the days the truck is running, he will be open from 12 Noon until the product runs out.

When asked if this was going to be a permanent business, Detchon said, “as of right now, I’m going to say yes. My goal is to make the food truck work for now and then try to put (the food truck) into a full restaurant. I plan to run it on the weekends off Alliance Rd unless I have another scheduled event.”

A food truck signature item of Mean Bean BBQ is the “Hornet Egg” for the districts Malvern Hornets. This item entails 1 large jalapeño stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in sausage, smoked to perfection.

Ordering ahead is not yet available since the product (BBQ) is a sensitive item and as the meat cools, it changes texture.

“As we grow and I can get equipment that holds the BBQ to my standards, we may look into doing online and call ahead orders.”

Detchon also mentions everything that is used in the food truck is made from scratch.
