Tuscarawas County will be represented in Tokyo this summer at the Olympics.
Hunter Armstrong, 20, a graduate of Dover High School, punched his ticket to the Olympics with a second-place finish at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials.
The Dover native clocked a time of 52.48 to finished behind defending Olympic Champion Ryan Murphy who placed first with a time of 52.33.
Armstrong rallied from seventh to second during the Olympic Trials to earn his spot on the Olympic roster. He is now the No. 5 swimmer all-time with his new time of 52.48.
Armstrong currently swims at Ohio State. He was enrolled at West Virginia but made the switch to OSU before the start of the 2020-21 season. The swimmer finished second and third in the 100-meter backstroke and 100-meter freestyle, respectively, at the Big Ten Championships.
