Woman killed in hit-and-run while walking just outside of Alliance

A pedestrian died in a fatal hit-and-run incident on Wednesday night along Alliance-Sebring Road, just outside Alliance, as confirmed by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The unidentified woman, walking east near Oyster Road in Mahoning County, was struck by an unspecified SUV.

According to a news release from the OHP’s Canfield Post, the victim was thrown into a watery ditch around 9 p.m. The woman was transported to Aultman Hospital, where she later passed away.

The SUV, which was also heading east, fled the scene following the collision, potentially displaying damage to its front right side, stated troopers.

The collision was recorded at 9:03 p.m. State troopers are in the process of identifying the woman and notifying her relatives, urging anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Canfield Post at 330-533-6866.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Smith Township Police, firefighters, and Sebring Police provided assistance to state troopers at the location.
