Carrollton woman dies in motorcycle crash, husband injured

The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Canton Post is currently investigating a motorcycle crash that occurred on Monday, October 2, at approximately 5:48 p.m. The incident took place on State Route 172 near Mile Post 25, at the intersection with Robertsville Avenue, in Paris Township.

The individuals involved have been identified as John W. Bennett, 68, and Zetta J. Bennett, 66, a married couple from Carrollton.

They were riding a 2003 Harley Davidson Road King West on State Route 172 when the accident transpired. According to preliminary reports, Mr. Bennett lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to veer off the road and tip over, resulting in both riders being ejected.

At the time of the crash, Ms. Bennett was wearing a helmet and protective boots, while Mr. Bennett was not using any protective gear, including a helmet. Both individuals were transported to Aultman Hospital in Canton to receive medical attention.

Mr. Bennett was treated for his injuries and released. Unfortunately, Ms. Bennett died from her injuries while at Aultman Hospital.

Authorities have stated that alcohol or drug use is not believed to be a contributing factor in the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
