Multiple police units responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Vernon Odom Boulevard in Akron. Authorities have confirmed that two individuals were struck by gunfire.

The victims have been identified as a 19-year-old male and a 7-year-old child.

The young adult sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Meanwhile, the child, whose identity has not been disclosed, suffered more serious injuries and is undergoing surgery at the present moment.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Akron Police Department, are actively working to gather more information regarding the incident. However, due to the preliminary nature of the investigation, no further details have been released at this time.
