An inmate escaped police custody early Tuesday morning at Summa Health on 1 Park West Drive in Akron.

The inmate, identified as Jason Lyle Conrad, was being escorted by a Summit County Sheriff’s deputy when he managed to escape.

Conrad was handcuffed and wearing a boot due to a previous injury but was able to free himself from the boot and flee. Law enforcement officials from Akron, Fairlawn, and Copley, as well as Highway Patrol troopers, are assisting in the search for Conrad.

Conrad faces charges of Willfully Fleeing, Possession of Drugs, Trafficking in Drugs, and a Parole Violation. He is described as a white male, 5 feet nine inches tall, 150 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. It is believed that he may be wearing an orange shirt and pants or blue shorts.

Anyone with information regarding Conrad’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Office at (330) 643-2181. The search for Conrad is ongoing, and authorities are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
