Carrollton’s baseball team won in shutout fashion against Marlington Wednesday evening with a 5-0 victory.

The Warriors had dropped a 6-3 game to the Dukes the night before, but they couldn’t be stopped as they racked up eight hits. The game remained scoreless through the first inning.

The Warriors scored one run in the bottom of the second inning and added three more runs in the third. Carrollton’s final run was scored in the fourth inning.

Carrollton was led to victory by a nine strikeout pitching performance by Hayden Jenkins. In addition to striking out nine Dukes, he only gave up two hits in the complete game outing.

Cayden Rininger, Cadyn Smith and Isiah McConnell each recorded two hits for the Warriors. Garrett Broadwater and John Birong each recorded a hit for the Warriors.

Broadwater’s lone hit of the game was a double that drove in three runs in the third inning.

With the win, Carrollton moves to 2-1 on the season.
