The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that killed a Bowerston man Saturday evening on State Route 39 in Tuscarawas County.

Troopers with the New Philadelphia Post said the crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. April 19 in Goshen Township, near milepost 17. A silver 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by 58-year-old William C. Oiler, was traveling westbound when it went off the right side of the road, striking a utility pole and two parked vehicles.

Oiler was transported from the scene to Union Hospital before being transferred to Akron General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following morning, April 20.

Agencies assisting at the scene included the New Philadelphia Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Rosenberry Towing and Metro Life Flight.

The crash remains under investigation.
