HS State Football Friday: West Holmes, Green fall in semifinals

The West Holmes Knights saw their season come to an end in a 41-7 loss to Chardon in the Division III State semifinals on Friday night.

Hilltoppers running back Sean Carr totaled four rushing touchdowns, while the Chardon defense forced three turnovers on the Knights, including a fumble returned for a score. Hilltoppers quarterback Alex Henry added a 31-yard passing touchdown to receiver Alex McDonald, while the Knights’ lone score came on a Noah Clark touchdown pass to Garrett Eastep just before halftime.

Chardon (15-0), who extends their winning streak to 27 games, will try to defend their Division III State title against Hamilton Badin (14-0) at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium on Friday, Dec. 2.

West Holmes ends its season at 14-1.

CINCINNATI WINTON WOODS 20, GREEN 7

The Green Bulldogs also fell in their Friday night Division II semifinal, a 20-7 decision to Winton Woods at Westerville.

The Warriors got two touchdowns from Tyrek Spikes, while KC Spears scored the second half’s lone touchdown to ice the game for W.W.

Green (11-3) held a brief 7-6 lead in the second quarter on a touchdown run by Quinn Simmer.

The Warriors (12-3) will face Akron Archbishop Hoban on Friday, Dec. 2, after Hoban bested Avon 31-24.
