On Wednesday, May 8 authorities were dispatched to 2121 Cleveland Ave NW (Dollar General) regarding an assault in progress. Prior to their arrival, reports indicated a female clerk was being assaulted with a hammer by an unidentified individual.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that the suspects had fled southbound on Cleveland Ave in a blue Dodge Caliber. The assaulted store clerk recounted being struck multiple times with a hammer by a female assailant, identified as Payton Valentine. The victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center for further assessment, displaying lacerations and a head injury from the assault.
Two additional victims reported being attacked during the incident. When one of the other people in the store tried to intervene, a second suspect who was with Payton Valentine poured beer on her head and slapped her across the face, the report says.
The report says the second suspect, Mannon Valentine, tried to strike the bystander with his car because the incident was being recorded on a cell phone.
Officers located and arrested the Valentines at Shorb Drive Through, where the hammer used in the assault was also recovered from their vehicle.
Payton and Mannon Valentine are both currently in the Stark County Jail facing felonious assault charges
