Portage County Sheriff’s Office trying to evacuate crowd after reported shooting at large Juneteenth event

The Portage County Sheriff’s Office is responding to a situation in Suffield Township at Wingfoot Lake Park where there have been reports of shots fired and firearms visible at a large gathering.

The sheriff’s office says they responded to a gathering of more than 2,000 people who were gathered for a Juneteenth celebration and party at Wingfoot Lake Park.

“We are attempting to control and evacuate the crowds and restore peace and order at the scene,” read a post from the Portage County Sheriff’s Facebook page. “We will be investigating the original call for help regarding shots fired.”

Authorities are asking you to please avoid the area for your own safety.
