JMN has learned an arrest has been made in the deadly shooting that left Luis Cuevas, 33, of Cleveland dead and others injured in the parking lot of a Wayne County dragway.
As the investigation unfolded, investigators compiled many video clips of the shooting. After review, they made contact with the Wayne County prosecutor and an arrest warrant was issued for Jonathan Paul Roman Perez of Cleveland.
Perez has been charged with Felonious assault for his involvement in the case. He is in the hospital for a non-life threatening injury as a result of the shooting. Once he is release from the hospital, he will be transported to the Wayne County Jail.
“I am pleased with the progress we have made with this case but there is more work to be done and the possibility of additional charges as well as defendants, remains. While violent incidents such as this are rare in Wayne County, we approach these investigations with the goal of obtaining the truth” said Sheriff Travis Hutchinson.
