A teacher’s aide from Boardman schools who was accused of stapling a piece of paper to a disabled child’s head has resigned after public backlash.

The incident occurred in early February and the mother of the child took to social media to air her grievances.

Prosecutors said on Friday that the teacher’s aide has resigned effective immediately instead of pursuing legal action in the accusation.

Criminal charges could not be filed by police but they said the evidence proved an “egregious act” but did not support a case of criminal assault. It was also noted that intent to harm the disabled child could not be proven.

Boardman superintendent Tim Saxton was under fire after TV comments downplaying the incident.
