Pedestrian killed in Stark County crash; victim identified

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in Canton Township.

According to officials, at 1:03 a.m. on Thursday morning deputies rushed to the 1300 block of 13th St NW following reports of a collision between a pickup truck and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as 65-year-old Wilburn Martin from Canton, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations revealed that Martin was walking on 13th St NW in the road when he was hit by the pickup truck. The driver of the pickup truck emerged unharmed.

Assisting were the Canton Township Fire Department, the Canton/Stark County Metro Crash Team, and the Stark County Coroner’s Office.
