Man killed in Stark County crash on I-77; investigation ongoing, victim identified

The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a motor vehicle accident that occurred in Plain Township late Saturday night.

Responding to the scene on I-77 northbound and mile marker 109 at 10:38 p.m., deputies found a crash involving a pickup truck and a motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, identified as Christopher Robinson, 37, of Akron, was ejected from his bike after colliding with the rear of the pickup truck. Despite being rushed to Aultman Hospital, Christopher succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the truck was unharmed.

Officials believe alcohol was a suspected factor in the crash.

Collaborating in the investigation were the Plain Township Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Stark County Coroner’s Office, and the Canton/Stark County Metro Crash Team.
