In connection to a shooting that happened on January 12, a male individual has been apprehended for his involvement. The arrest took place at a local motel in New Philadelphia at approximately 10 p.m. on the same day.
Following the arrest, multiple other individuals were taken into custody and questioned. They have since been released pending further assessment by the Tuscarawas County Prosecutor’s office for potential legal action.
Details of the shooting were not released.
A search warrant was executed on the vehicle in question and the motel room. Detectives discovered evidence from the shooting in both locations, which has been processed as part of the ongoing investigation.
The male suspect linked to the shooting is presently detained in the New Philadelphia City Jail, awaiting formal charges. Detectives expect to file charges against other individuals involved in the near future, as the investigation progresses.
Authorities have also recovered the firearms believed to be used in the incident, and these, along with the evidence found at the shooting scene, will undergo further processing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the altercation.
