A longtime teacher from Buckeye Career Center was one of the victims killed in Tuesday’s crash involving a charter bus carrying the Tusky Valley band, a semi and multiple cars.

Among the six killed was Shannon Wigfield, an English Language Arts teacher from Buckeye Career Center.

Wigfield was in her 24th year of teaching at BCC.

“Mrs. Wigfield was adored by her co-workers and students and will be remembered for her loving smile and always positive attitude,” a statement from the school read. “Throughout her time at BCC, she coordinated our prom court nominations and crowning moments.”

Counselors and support staff are available for students and staff to cope with the loss of Wigfield.

Buckeye Career Center has canceled sophomore visit days and Fall Open House in light of Tuesday’s tragedy. They do plan to reschedule these events at the appropriate time. More details will be released when new dates are set.
