A 51-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a roadway in Stark County early Sunday evening.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:10 PM, on State Route 172 near Lennox Avenue SW in Perry Township. The Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.

The incident involved a pedestrian who was attempting to cross State Route 172, but not within a designated crosswalk. A white 2006 Ford E-250 van was traveling eastbound on State Route 172 and collided with the pedestrian in the roadway.

The pedestrian has been identified as Stacy Antill, a 51-year-old resident of Steubenville. Antill was transported by the Perry Township Fire Department to Mercy Hospital with life-threatening injuries where she later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The white 2006 Ford E-250 van was being driven by Armando Castellanos, a 29-year-old resident of Massillon. Castellanos emerged from the crash without any reported injuries.

Alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the incident, and authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to gather information and piece together the events that led to this unfortunate incident.
