One killed, 30 displaced in Akron apartment fire

The Akron Fire Department is investigating a fire that claimed the life of one person Wednesday morning.

Fire departments were dispatched to an apartment in the 1100 block of Second Ave in Akron for reports of anfireb

Upon arrival, they discovered one person dead and transported another person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say 30 occupants of the apartment were displaced from the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Crews remain on scene as of 10:30 a.m. People are asked to avoid the area at this time.
