A coordinated search effort involving multiple agencies has come to a somber conclusion with the discovery of the remains of 81-year-old Steve Myers who was reported missing from Tuscarawas County earlier this week.
The search, orchestrated by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with Sheriff Mounted deputies, Arrowhead Fire Department, Newcomerstown Fire Department, Perry Township SAR, and Ohio SAR, along with a dedicated group of family and friends, resulted in the finding of Myers’ remains.
The search led the teams to a wooded area near Mr. Myers’ home, shedding light on the mystery of his disappearance from his residence on Lick Run Road in Newcomerstown.
Fortunately, no foul play is suspected, although the details that led to Mr. Myers’ passing remain subject to the coroner’s investigation.
The community had rallied around the search effort, with concerns growing when Myers’ family had not heard from him for several days. Known for occasionally riding his bicycle around the area, his absence had caused considerable worry since all of his bikes had been accounted for.
