Two killed following Akron shooting; no arrests made

One person is dead and another is left in critical condition following a shooting in Akron Wednesday evening.

The shooting occurred Wednesday shortly after 5:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Cole Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a 20-year-old male on a porch suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. The individual was transported to Summa Health Akron City Hospital in critical condition via ambulance.

Another male, 32 years old, was also found with a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was privately taken to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center. The second victim was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the medical facility.

The identities of both victims are being withheld at this time.

Authorities currently believe that a potential altercation may have led to the shooting; however, the exact sequence of events leading up to the incident remains unclear.

Detectives are actively engaged in efforts to identify any additional individuals who may have been present at the scene or its vicinity during the time of the shooting. As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
