A man was hospitalized Thursday night following a police chase that started in Summit County and ended in a Stark County township.

According to Lawrence Township Police Chief David Brown, a pursuit between a vehicle and police ensued in Tallmadge. Chief Brown tells JMN he received a call just after 11 p.m. stating that the chase ended in Lawrence Township on Lloyd Avenue SW.

Tallmadge Police Chief could not be reached for comment.

Bureau of Criminal of Investigation press secretary Steve Irwin said BCI was dispatched to the scene to assist in the investigation of an “officer-involved shooting.”

Irwin said no officers were injured in the shooting. The suspect in the vehicle involved in the chase was transported to Akron General Hospital for treatment for his injuries.

Although the investigation is in the preliminary stages, police sources tell us that shots were fired by the suspect.

The suspect was allegedly wanted for arson.
