Person of interest identified in Salem schools bomb threat

Salem City Schools has announced that Salem Junior/Senior High School has been given the all-clear to reopen after a bomb threat was made Tuesday morning.

The school evacuated the students to First Christian Church when the threat came in.

According to the school, there is a person of interest located out of state who is being seriously investigated as the perpetrator. The threat is being treated as a federal crime.

Salem Junior/Senior High School will resume classes on Wednesday, May 3rd.

The school expressed its gratitude to several organizations that worked collaboratively to ensure the building was free of any threats, including the Salem Police and Fire Department, Youngstown FBI, Akron Children’s Hospital Police, Canfield Police Department, Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, and Youngstown Bomb Squad and dogs.
