The Massillon Police Department is investigating the death of a two-month-old in the city.
Officers were dispatched to a home on State St NW on the evening of April 28th after receiving a call at 7:40 PM regarding a non-responsive infant.
In response, the Massillon Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders discovered the 2-month-old male infant was unresponsive, and immediately began administering life-saving measures. Shortly after their arrival, the infant was transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Despite the efforts of the first responders and medical staff, the infant was unable to be revived and was declared deceased at the hospital.
When asked if foul play is suspected in the death of the the infant, police said they “cannot comment on that” at this time.
The Massillon Police Department has launched an investigation into the incident, which is currently ongoing.
