The romantic comedy feature film THE GREENOAK GUARDIAN, which was filmed entirely in Carroll County last spring, has just been released to Amazon Prime Video.

Written by local cartoonist Duane M. Abel, the film stars Houston Rhines (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Hawaii 5-0, Christmas Lovers Anonymous), Abi Van Andel (Dark Waters) and Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2, Commando, Weird Science). Portraying the role of Grayson’s Hollywood agent, is screenwriter Duane Abel (who also produced the comic book artwork for the film).
Local establishments and businesses featured include The Grand Tea Room, Heartland on Heritage, Diamond Lake Cabins, Guess Motors, Ashton’s 5 and 10, Paperworks and More, Betty Kaye Bakery, Bluebird Farm, Cedar One Realty and The Carroll County Messenger.
Produced by United Front Films and directed by Lana Read, the film has Rotten Tomatoes critic Michael Szymanski writing “This is one of the best romantic comedies to come along in a while. These kind of movies are hard to find.”
A world premiere theatrical event is being held at The Lions Lincoln Theatre in Massillon on May 20th with cast and crew in attendance. Doors open at 6pm with the film beginning at 7:00 pm.
