A New Philadelphia man has died days after being stabbed in the head and neck after an intruder allegedly broke into his apartment Friday.

According to New Philadelphia Police, Corey Harshey, 33, allegedly used a rock to break a window in order to enter his neighbor’s apartment on First Drive NE.

When Harshey entered the apartment, police say he then stabbed the 44-year-old victim in the head and neck multiple times. The victim died from his injuries Tuesday morning, according to his family.

“He was a great man that would of gave his only shirt off his back to help someone,” a family member said.

The victim was also described as a “quiet, kind-hearted, hardworking man.”

In addition to the original charges of Aggravated Burglary, Felonious Assault and a Probation Violation, Harshey is facing an Aggravated Murder charge.
