BERLIN, Ohio (JMN Sports) – Berlin Hiland High School is set to hire Brady Schlabach as its next girls’ basketball head coach, pending approval at the next East Holmes Board of Education meeting.

“I am excited for the opportunity to carry on the tradition of excellence at Hiland,” Schlabach stated via a Monday press release by the school. “Growing up in this community, I’ve learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and impacting others. I can’t wait to get going.”

Schlabach is a 2016 graduate of Hiland, where he played for the boys’ basketball program. The Ohio State University alum spent three years as a student assistant for the Buckeye women’s basketball team. He also worked as an assistant coach at Ohio Dominican during his fourth year at Ohio State, and later spent a season as the junior varsity-freshmen coach at Columbus St. Francis DeSales High School.

Schlabach will succeed former Hawks coach Jason Mishler, who retired a year after taking over for Brady’s father, former longtime Hiland girls’ coach Dave Schlabach.

“We are very excited to have Brady lead our Girls Basketball program,” said Hiland athletic director Segar Bonifant. “He will bring great energy every day that will continue to enhance our student-athletes on and off the court!”
