Garaway boys’ season ends in regional finals loss to Africentric

ATHENS, Ohio (JMN Sports) – The Garaway Pirates’ hopes for a state tournament appearance fell short in a 61-48 Saturday loss to Columbus Africentric in the Division III Region 11 final at Ohio University’s Convocation Center.

The Pirates’ season ends at 22-5.

The Nubians were led in scoring by Dailyn Smith, who totaled a game-high 30 points.

Africentric will play Region 10 champion Ottawa-Glandorf in the Division III state semifinals on Friday, Mar. 18 at 10:45 a.m. at Dayton’s UD Arena. The Titans (24-2) beat Colonel Crawford, 51-44, in their regional final matchup on Saturday at Bowling Green State University’s Stroh Center.
