East Canton High School’s Week 6 football game with Newcomerstown has been canceled.

The game, originally set for this Friday in Newcomerstown, was called off due to ongoing COVID-19 issues within the Trojans’ program.

The cancelation will be the fourth consecutive game Newcomerstown has been forced to miss due to COVID issues, either within its program or another opponent’s. East Canton (2-2) had already canceled a game this season due to COVID-related reasons – Week 3 versus Southern Local.

East Canton athletic director Doug Miller said the Hornets do not currently have a new opponent scheduled for this Friday, but will keep searching.

“As of now, we do not have a game,” Miller stated on Tuesday.

East Canton’s first scheduled IVC North contest is set for Friday, Oct. 1 against Strasburg.
