Two suspects wanted in connection with a shooting investigation in North Canton have been arrested and booked into jail, police confirmed Tuesday.
The North Canton Police Department began investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday, Feb. 5, in the 300 block of Rose Lane St. SE.
Detectives identified two suspects through witness statements, evidence collected at the scene and investigative follow-up. Arrest warrants were issued for two Canton men, Jauron McLeod, 19, and Julius Edwards, 19, both of whom were facing multiple felony charges, including complicity to commit aggravated robbery, complicity to commit discharging a firearm near prohibited premises, complicity to commit felonious assault and having weapons while under disability.
Shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force located both suspects in Canton and took them into custody without incident.
North Canton Police Major Matthew Buzzard credited the swift arrests to coordinated investigative work and regional collaboration.
“This outcome is the result of a fast, focused investigation and outstanding teamwork,” Buzzard said. “Detective Marceric and Detective King moved immediately following the incident and worked diligently to identify the suspects and secure warrants. We are also extremely grateful for the support of the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force, including our own Officer Burns, who serves as a regional task force member and has been actively assisting in the search over the past several days. This collaboration is exactly how violent offenders are taken off the street quickly and safely.”
The North Canton Police Department also thanked the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force for its continued partnership and assistance in apprehending the suspects.
Both McLeod and Edwards have been booked into the Stark County Jail.
The investigation remains active, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
