Two 15-year-old boys were injured in a shooting Thursday evening after a large group of juveniles gathered to watch a fight, according to the Akron Police Department.
Officers responded to the 900 block of Hartford Avenue around 6:59 p.m. Sept. 17 following reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found two 15-year-old boys suffering from gunshot wounds. One had been shot in the chest, while the other was struck in the upper left leg.
Officers provided medical assistance until paramedics arrived. Both teenagers were transported to Akron Children’s Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.
According to a preliminary investigation, a large group of juveniles had gathered near the Lawton Street Community Center to watch a fight.
As the fight moved toward Hartford Avenue and Little Street, multiple shots were fired, causing the crowd to disperse.
Detectives from the Akron Police Department’s JAM Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to interview witnesses, process the scene and collect evidence.
No suspects have been identified.
