A second suspect has been identified in connection with the fatal shooting of a Canton man earlier this week, and police have obtained a murder warrant for his arrest, authorities said Tuesday.
Canton police said detectives have identified Larry G. Grimes, 45, of Canton, as a second suspect in the May 24 killing of Richard A. Poole, 51, of Canton.
Officers responded around 9 p.m. Sunday to the 800 block of Alan Page Drive SE after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting. When officers arrived, they found Poole inside Apartment 5 suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to police.
Officers provided first aid until Canton Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported Poole to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police previously identified Daquan B.J. Rucker, 30, of Akron, as a suspect in the homicide and said he has since been arrested.
In an update Tuesday, Canton police said detectives obtained a murder warrant for Grimes in connection with Poole’s death. Authorities did not immediately release additional details about Grimes’ alleged role in the shooting or the circumstances that led investigators to identify him as a suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing.
