UPDATE: The suspect has been arrested.
A 51-year-old Canton man died after being shot inside an apartment on the city’s southeast side Sunday night, and police are searching for a 30-year-old Akron man wanted in connection with the killing.
Canton police said officers responded around 9 p.m. Sunday, May 24, to the 800 block of Alan Page Drive SE after receiving several 911 calls reporting a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found Richard A. Poole, 51, of Canton, inside Apartment 5 suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest, according to police. Officers provided first aid until Canton Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported Poole to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Following an investigation, Canton police detectives obtained a murder warrant for Daquan B.J. Rucker, 30, of Akron.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
