A 28-year-old Coshocton man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Memorial Day in Stark County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 2:56 p.m. Monday at the intersection of state routes 21 and 212 in Bethlehem Township, authorities said.

Investigators said a red Ford Escape, driven by Alex McPeak, 28, of Coshocton, was stopped at a stop sign on westbound state Route 212 and attempted to make a left turn onto state Route 21. Troopers said the vehicle failed to yield to a northbound white Chevrolet Silverado towing a Jayco travel trailer.

The Silverado struck the Ford on the driver’s side, causing both vehicles to travel off the northwest corner of the intersection, where the Ford struck a traffic sign, according to the highway patrol.

McPeak was flown by Metro Life Flight to Summa Health System’s Akron Campus, where he was pronounced dead. A passenger in his vehicle was taken to Mercy Hospital. Authorities did not release the passenger’s condition.

The Silverado was driven by 19-year-old Landri Jett of Doylestown. Troopers said Jett was not injured. One passenger in the Silverado was transported to Mercy Hospital.

The Strasburg Police Department, Strasburg Fire Department, Bolivar Fire Department, Erie Valley Fire & Rescue, Canton Towing and Luthi’s Towing assisted at the scene.

Investigators said impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash, and all occupants were wearing seat belts. The crash remains under investigation.
