The Stark County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a pedestrian crash Monday night on Market Avenue North in Canton as 65-year-old Ricky Careway of Stark County.
Careway died after being struck by a vehicle around 11:14 p.m. in the 2900 block of Market Avenue North, according to Canton police.
Police said a 2010 Dodge Journey was traveling northbound in the center lane when it struck Careway, who was walking eastbound across the roadway.
Careway was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Dodge was not injured.
Canton Police Chief John Gabbard previously said drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors for the driver. Investigators are still working to determine whether impairment may have played a role for the pedestrian.
The Canton Metro Crash Team continues to investigate the crash.
