An anonymous bomb threat prompted a modified lockdown Monday morning at Belle Stone Elementary School in the Canton City School District, according to a message sent to parents.
District officials said the threat was received May 11 at the Canton City Schools administration office and referenced a possible bomb threat outside the elementary school.
The district’s safety and security team, along with the Canton Police Department, responded immediately and searched both the interior and exterior of the school building. Officials said nothing suspicious was found.
Students and staff were placed on a modified lockdown at 11:39 a.m. while authorities investigated the threat. School officials later resumed normal operations after law enforcement determined there was no danger to the building.
“The safety and security of our students are our top priority,” the message stated, thanking Canton police and the district’s security team for their response.
The message was signed by the Belle Stone Elementary School team.
No injuries or arrests were reported.
