A 31-year-old man faces three misdemeanor charges after police say he inhaled an aerosol product while driving, lost consciousness and crashed his pickup truck into an occupied home Sunday, Sept. 20.
According to reports obtained by Jordan Miller News, the crash occurred around noon in the 1200 block of Glamorgan Street.
Witnesses reported seeing a 2015 GMC Sierra swerving along the roadway before it veered off the street and struck a tree. The pickup continued through two residential yards before slamming into the southwest corner of a home.
The homeowners were inside the residence when the truck struck the building, but neither was injured. No injuries were reported in the crash.
During their investigation, Alliance police discovered a can of compressed gas dusting spray inside the pickup.
According to the police report, the driver admitted to inhaling the product while operating the vehicle and subsequently losing consciousness.
Investigators determined the pickup traveled approximately 504 feet while the driver was unconscious. The man told police he did not remember striking the tree and regained consciousness only after the truck crashed into the house.
The driver was arrested and faces misdemeanor charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence, abusing harmful intoxicants and failure to control.
