Browns rookie Quinshon Judkins will not face charges in Florida domestic violence case

The Broward County State Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday it will not file charges against Cleveland Browns running back Quinshon Judkins after investigating a domestic violence allegation—citing a lack of video evidence, absence of independent witnesses, conflicting injury documentation and a delayed report of the incident.

Judkins, a rookie running back and second-round pick (No. 36 overall) from Ohio State, was arrested on July 12 in Fort Lauderdale on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge described as “touch or strike/battery/domestic violence”.

According to police and court records, the alleged incident took place on July 7. Judkins and the woman were driving away from Fort Lauderdale International Airport when he reportedly became upset after reading text messages, then struck her in the chin or lip area with a closed fist and subsequently in the arm and thigh while behind the wheel. The victim did not report the incident until July 12, telling authorities she initially delayed due to personal reasons before deciding “something needed to be done”.

At the bond hearing the next day, Judkins was released on a $2,500 bond. A judge found probable cause, ordered no contact between Judkins and the alleged victim, and prohibited him from possessing firearms.

In a statement, the Broward County State Attorney’s Office noted multiple challenges in the case: “no independent witnesses,” unverified timing of injuries, and the delayed report—all contributing to a determination that there was “no reasonable likelihood of conviction”.

Judkins, 21, played collegiately at Ole Miss before transferring to Ohio State, where he rushed for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns in 2024 and helped Ohio State win the national championship. He remains an unsigned draft pick heading into his rookie season with the Browns.
