Authorities say a thief used a small construction vehicle to rip an ATM from its base outside a Portage County bank early Wednesday.
According to the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened around 4 a.m. at Portage Community Bank on Tallmadge Road. Investigators believe a Bobcat was used to tear the machine from a small building next to the bank.
Deputies later found the ATM abandoned in the woods behind the bank. No arrests have been made, and officials have not identified a suspect.
Bank officials told investigators no cash was taken during the theft. The sheriff’s office continues to investigate.
