A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 41-year-old Canton man found dead in his northeast-side home in early September.

Camryn D. Croston surrendered to authorities on Dec. 10 and is charged with murder and aggravated burglary in the death of Jake M. Young, according to U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott. Croston remained in jail as of Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to Young’s home in the 1600 block of St. Elmo Avenue NE on Sept. 2 after a witness reported seeing a man lying on the floor inside the residence. Responding officers found Young dead.

Police said Young died from a gunshot wound and suffered “serious physical harm,” though investigators have not disclosed the full manner of death. Detectives with the Canton Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division continued working the case for months before Croston’s arrest.

No additional details about the circumstances leading to the shooting have been released.
