A 16-year-old driver suffered life-threatening injuries Thursday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Dundee Strasburg Road and State Route 93 in Wayne Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers from the New Philadelphia Post said the teen was driving a white 2014 Ford Focus westbound on Dundee Strasburg Road when the vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck on the driver’s side by a northbound maroon 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck. The crash occurred around 4:55 p.m.

After the collision, both vehicles went off the west side of Route 93 before coming to rest off the roadway.

The 16-year-old driver was flown from the scene by Med Flight to Akron City Hospital with life-threatening injuries. An 18-year-old passenger in the Ford Focus sustained minor injuries and was not transported. The 57-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram also suffered minor injuries but was treated at the scene.

The Highway Patrol was assisted by the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, Sugarcreek Fire Department and EMS, Dundee Fire Department and EMS, Med Flight, Chad’s Towing, and D & S Towing.

The crash remains under investigation.
