Former Jackson Polar Bear and current Detroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler has won the Gold Glove Award for the American League.
The 27-year-old logged 1,011⅔ innings behind the plate this season — the most by a Tigers catcher since Alex Avila in 2014. Offensively, Dingler hit .278 with 13 home runs, 23 walks, and a .752 OPS across 126 games.
It marks the first Gold Glove — and first full season — of Dingler’s young MLB career, solidifying his place among the league’s top defensive catchers.
