Ursuline High School’s head football coach has been suspended and two assistants placed on leave as investigations continue into alleged misconduct during a summer team trip.

Head coach Dan Reardon accepted an indefinite suspension Sept. 8, while assistant coaches Tim McGlynn and Christian Syrianoudis were placed on administrative leave the same day, according to a statement from Ursuline HS. School officials said no decisions have been made regarding their future employment.

The diocese announced Monday that longtime assistant Michael Frasco will serve as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

The disciplinary actions follow a federal lawsuit filed Sept. 2 in U.S. District Court in Northern Ohio. The complaint accuses Ursuline, the diocese, and several school officials of failing to stop hazing and sexual assaults involving players during the trip and of retaliating when the family reported the abuse.

The 200-page filing alleges the family’s son was assaulted in his hotel room, with a video of the incident recorded and shared on Snapchat. The suit names the school, Reardon, McGlynn, Syrianoudis, Principal Matthew Sammartino, Assistant Principal Margaret Damore, and multiple student players and parents as defendants.

The family is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, attorney fees, and a court order prohibiting further retaliation. They are represented by the Chandra Law Firm of Cleveland.

Ursuline officials said they cannot release additional details while litigation and internal investigations are ongoing.
