A driver was taken to a hospital Thursday night after a semi competing in a pulling event at the Portage County Randolph Fair broke free from its sled and crashed through a barrier at the end of the track.
The incident happened at approximately 10:59 p.m. Thursday during the CS Pulling Productions Grandstand event, according to a statement released by the fair.
Fair officials said a Pro Street Semi broke away from the pulling sled and continued through the barrier at the end of the track.
Emergency crews responded immediately, and the driver was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. The driver’s condition was not immediately released.
No spectators, fairgoers, volunteers or event personnel were on the other side of the barrier when the incident occurred, and no other injuries were reported.
Fair officials expressed gratitude to emergency responders and event personnel for their response and said safety remains a priority for competitors and those attending the fair.
