Two people were found dead inside a vehicle at an Eastwoods Park parking lot Sunday morning, and preliminary findings indicate carbon monoxide inside the vehicle exceeded safe levels, according to the North Canton Police Department.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 10:56 a.m. Sunday, June 28, after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at the park with its engine running.

When officers arrived, they found a 2004 Honda occupied by two unresponsive individuals. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators said there are no signs of foul play and no indication of violence or a struggle associated with the deaths.

Preliminary findings showed the presence of carbon monoxide inside the vehicle at levels exceeding what is considered safe. The North Canton Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed those findings, according to the release.

The Stark County Coroner’s Office is investigating to determine the official cause and manner of death.

The deceased are a 22-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man. Their identities have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation remains active, and police said no additional information is available at this time.
