Police are searching for a man wanted on a murder charge after two children found their mother dead inside an Alliance home Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Officers were called at about 7 a.m. Wednesday to a home in the 300 block of West Ely Street after receiving a call from two children inside the house yelling for help, according to Lt. Christopher McCord.

The children had found their mother, Ashley Ross, dead in her bedroom, police said.

Responding officers secured the residence and removed the children from the home, where they were reunited with family members who had already arrived at the scene, authorities said.

Detectives later obtained a search warrant for the residence and collected evidence with assistance from investigators with the Stark County Coroner’s Office.

Robert Andre Ross

Police identified the suspect as Robert Andre Ross, 49, the victim’s husband. Authorities said an active warrant has been issued for his arrest on a murder charge.

Investigators said Ross is considered armed and dangerous and is believed to be in possession of a firearm.

The U.S. Marshals Service is assisting in the search for Ross, police said.

Authorities warned that anyone who aids or abets Ross could face legal consequences.

No additional details about the circumstances surrounding Ashley Ross’ death were immediately released. The investigation remains ongoing.
