Two dead after plane crashes into Akron home

Two people were killed Thursday after a plane crashed into a house in Akron, according to the Akron Police Department.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. near Canterbury Circle, prompting a large emergency response from police, fire and other first responders.

Authorities said the aircraft struck a home, but no one inside the residence was injured.

Dark black smoke could be seen rising in the distance in the aftermath of the crash as emergency crews worked at the scene.

Officials have not yet released details about the type of aircraft involved or the identities of the two people killed.
